My kids like to give me a hard time. They can’t understand why I go to bed so early or why I get up “in the middle of the night” if I wake up instead of rolling over and going back to sleep. It’s really very simple – it sets me up to have a great day. The world is asleep. It’s quiet. I feel the best inspirations early in the morning. By 8 a.m. my work is mostly done.
I never would have classified myself as a morning person but in my senior year of college I had to set up all my classes back to back from 8-noon. So I went to classes in the morning, did my homework and assignments in the afternoon and had my evenings free. That term I was on top of all my work, got great grades, and it took much less effort. Wow! Quite a discovery. Although I hate getting out of bed, I am most productive in the mornings.
So now if I wake up an hour or two before my alarm, instead of rolling over and going back to sleep, I get up. And I love it (not getting out of my comfy bed, but the way it makes me feel to be up and in “my zone”). So what’s your zone? When do you feel the best and do your best?
