I was speaking with a business acquaintance the other day. She is a therapist and I asked her what issue the majority of her clients were dealing with. The answer was fascinating. She said the majority of them THOUGHT they were anxious, depressed, or needed help because they were getting, planning on getting, or had gotten, a divorce. After working with her many of them discovered that the real issue wasn't the marriage but rather something going on inside themselves, a need to live a more authentic life.
What is fascinating about this is how we point to an area of our life and say, "That's it! That's the problem. If I just fix this, or make this go away, I'll be happy". When often times the only place we can go to make us happy is inside.
So I guess this is a cautionary blog. When you see something that you think is causing the problems and unhappiness in your life be very careful. And always take time to consider if you are just at a point where you need to be true to yourself, to let your goals, dreams, talents and intuitions shape your life. When we are living a life that was put upon us, or that we designed without regard for who we truly are, it catches up with us. When that happens we become uncomfortable, unhappy or even depressed. This is a time where we start looking for the cause of our feelings and can often pin the blame on the wrong thing.
Remember, the way you deal with your life and your feelings is your choice. Choose wisely and carefully and don't hesitate to seek help. An unbiased viewpoint can do wonders for clarifying our vision.
Today I send you a wish for clarity, vision and happiness.
